One of the many reasons real estate buyer interest in Wishart has been sky high in the past few years is because of the excellent schools servicing the suburb. Families are spoiled for choice no matter the age of their kids, with a plethora of popular primary and secondary schools to choose from.
Today we want to take a look at the range of private and state schools in Wishart. It’s blessed with being in the catchment areas of some of Brisbane’s finest state schools, which has undoubtedly contributed to it’s increased lifestyle profile. Let’s start by taking a look at the state schools you can send your child to if you’re living in Wishart.
State Schools in Wishart
A catchment area of a school is the area around the school where kids living in those properties are immediately able to attend that school. This is actually really important in real estate terms, because obviously a better school means a more desirable catchment area, which has an upward effect on demand for properties there.
Wishart is blessed with being in the catchment for three renowned and popular schools. Let’s take a look.
Wishart State School
This primary school caters for prep to Year 6, and is located in a bushland enclave with a peaceful ethos, right on the easily accessed Morella Street. Wishart State School goes by the school motto “Gain for Endeavour”, and is a multicultural hub renowned for excellent academic standards.
There are approximately 900 students there, who also enjoy a wide range of extracurricular activities. Facilities include a heated swimming pool, tennis courts, an adventure playground and a ‘healthy foods’ tuck shop. You’ll love the commitment to using modern technology throughout all the classrooms, and the kids can partake in a number of interschools activities.
Interesting fact: Brisbane real estate agent Henry attended Wishart State School for his primary years, and loved his time there!
Mansfield State High School
This extremely popular asset to the area needs very little introduction to most Brisbanites, such is its good reputation. Mansfield State High School is a co-ed secondary school in a prominent position on the corner of Broadwater and Ham Road, catering to Year 7 to 12. The school motto is simply “Steadfast”, and this has rung true over the years as standards of excellence have made this school a strong pull to Wishart.
With approximately 3137 students, MSHS has a strong multicultural footing. Students are provided with a wide range of advanced facilities when it comes to sports, with a full sized athletics oval and an indoor sports centre really standing out. The academic achievements of the school are also impressive, with above-average NAPLAN results scored every year, and many students going on to achieve great success.
