Brisbane’s Best Primary NAPLAN Results

Naplan best schools

Another year means another opportunity to review how schools went on their NAPLAN tests for last year. In the video below I take a look at a Courier Mail resource where you can check out the NAPLAN results for all the schools around Queensland.

For the video we investigated the top five primary schools. Have a look at it below, or check out our Facebook post here

The school with the outright best results is the government school, ‘Brisbane School of Distance Education’, with a year 5 average score of 574.6. This school is based in Coorparoo, with students attending online lessons in an offsite location. The school focuses on creating an engaging mode of delivery to give students a comprehensive education in the Australian curriculum.

The highest rate private school is Citipointe Christian College, which came in at No. 3 overall out of the Queensland Primary Schools. Located in Carindale, this is indicative of the high quality of schools available to residents of neighbouring Wishart

Common NAPLAN Questions

You may be asking, what’s all the fuss with NAPLAN? What does this have to do with real estate? So let’s answer a few questions you might have.

What is NAPLAN?

It’s the National Assessment Program – Numeracy and Literacy. The only nationwide assessment for Australian school children, they take the test in Years 3,5, 7 and 9. It’s a strong indication of whether they’re being equipped with the necessary skills they require for their educational journey.

Who Decides on the Test Material

The tests are put together by government and non-government bodies. It includes a mix of reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar, and punctuation), and numeracy.

Are the Tests Compulsory?

Yes, the NAPLAN tests are compulsory for children going to schools that participate in the program.

Why Are We Talking About NAPLAN on a Real Estate Blog?

Educational institutions have a huge effect on the liveability and desirability of an area, which in turn affects the property market there. A suburb with multiple schools who perform well on their overall NAPLAN scores is going to attract more families with kids to live there, having a positive effect on real estate prices. This is why you’ll find us talking about schools and NAPLAN results on our real estate blog!

If you have any questions about schools in Coorparoo or schools in Wishart and how they do in NAPLAN, we’d love to chat. Get in touch with Henry or a member of his team here.
