Local Insights from Henry Wong

Sitting in the inner south of Brisbane’s suburbs, Coorparoo offers an exceptional lifestyle built around a tight-knit community.

When many people think of Coorparoo, ‘convenience’ is the first word that pops to mind. It’s less than six kilometers drive to the heart of Brisbane, with a huge range of public transport options to help get you there. Whether you’re driving, going by train or bus or even riding your bike, the electric buzz of Central Brisbane is easily accessible!

Coorparoo hasn’t built its reputation as a lifestyle suburb simply because of its proximity to the city centre. A lot is going on within the suburb that families, young professionals or retirees will love. As Coorparoo real estate agents, we want to tell you about some of it today!

The Coorparoo Lifestyle and Community

We’re a sucker for a good park here at The Henry Wong Team®, so let’s start with taking a look at some of the incredible parks in Coorparoo. These help promote an active and outdoors lifestyle in the suburb, which residents love.

Majestic Park

This is a central and easily accessible park that’s always a hit with the kiddos, thanks to its awesome playground. I mean, there’s even a dragon there with huge dragon eggs, and a massive fort too! There’s also an electric barbeque, a picnic shelter and an entire outdoor fitness circuit! A great place to come and hang out with the kids on the weekends.

The Common Park

As the kids get older the idea of a fort and dragon playground may not appeal as much. That’s ok – the skate park at The Common Park in Coorparoo should attract their interest! This sprawling park offers over 7 hectares of greenspace, and as well as the skate park there is a designated drone launching area! You can also enjoy a basketball half-court, an outdoor fitness trail, a picnic area and a barbeque area.

Wembley Park

Popular with dog owners because of its dog off-leash area, Wembley Park is the perfect spot to bring your pooch to catch up with its other furry friends. It’s also got a bikeway network through it, which cyclists love. There’s a large car park here which makes it easier to visit, and kids and adults alike will love the playground and the cricket practice nets.

Those are by far our three favourite Coorparoo Parks, although you will find many more dotted around the suburb, including Sirius Street Park, Trundle Park and Kanumbra Street Park. There’s bound to be a park near you in Coorparoo!

It’s open to kids up to 17 years ol, and bookings are essential. Who knows, you could have the next Tony Hawk on your hands!

The lush surrounds of Majestic Park play host to a couple of fitness classes every weekend that are free to attend. Every Saturday at 1.30pm the ACTivate Kids Club takes place, a free fun fitness event for kids aged 6-10 years old. Expect games, races and obstacle courses! Then on Sundays at 7.30am is Mobility for Life, an all ages class taking you through some stretching and mobility exercises. What a rejuvenating way to finish the week!
